Country Australian Gardening

The way we live may have changed but the world we live in is still there.

It is a challenge sometimes to understand why Australia is one of the most urbanised countries in the world. With 89% of our population living in cities most are missing out on being part of the real Australia; real because it is living and breathing and to me at least the big wide and beautiful part of Australia that makes it unique from other places in the world.

The opportunities to design landscapes that capture the flavour of the country and recognise the history of an area is something very different from creating a suburban city garden. Both have their roots in the living world but country gardens have some special opportunities that link them with the world around them in a unique way.

Times have changed

The days of a simple slab hut for a family of five with no running water and horse drawn gigs are gone. For many we are now just as likely to live in larger and more comfortable houses than in the city and drive the most up to date vehicles with all the accessories.
